Tragedy, history, comedy – a well performed Shakespeare play under a starry sky is truly an evening of vacation. The first summer I discovered American Players Theatre (APT) I saw The Comedy of Errors three or four times – granted some as a volunteer usher – but each showing was like a “night off.” The Comedy of Errors follows a story line of mistaken identity with slapstick comedy, puns, and wordplay. Sometimes it is just downright silly. Yet each night felt fresh and new at APT.
If you prefer a more serious and intense drama, perhaps you would enjoy this past summer’s offering of Richart the III. Wow – was it intense! Several characters are shady and Richard is downright evil. I can’t wait to see the line up for summer 2013.
If you are any where in SW Wisconsin treat yourself to a play at American Players Theatre next summer. Plan a picnic, bring a bottle of wine, take a walk through the woods, but most of all enjoy an evening of “vacation” in southwest Wisconsin. Know that when you purchase early, or if you purchase a fall show there is a discount.
