UW-MANIAC is excited to have Faisal Abdu’Allah, the Spring 2013 UW-Madison Interdisciplinary Artist in Residence present on Feb. 27, 8am-9:30am, at School of Human Ecology, Plenary Room.
Check out the flyer for details and sharing: 2-27-2013 MANIAC Breakfast
It’s free, but register here! This breakfast will be a chance to experience a different conversation than we are accustomed to, and from that we grow.
Faisal Abdu’Allah is an internationally acclaimed British artist who creates iconographic imagery of power, race, masculinity, violence, and faith to challenge the values and ideologies we attach to those images and to interrogate the historic and cultural contexts in which they originate. Trained as a printmaker, his work evolved out of the interface of photography, printed media, film, installation, and performance. While in residence, Faisal Abdu’Allah is teaching “FauHaus: Bodies, Minds, Senses, and the Arts” with Art History Professor Henry Drewal. This art laboratory is composed of student practitioners from visual arts, performance, art history, and visual culture.
UW-MANIAC is excited to have Faisal present on Feb. 27, 8am-9:30am, School of Human Ecology Plenary Room.
He will be sharing his story: How did he come to do what he is doing? What has been his personal journey? What is he passionate about in his work, and why? Be ready to be intellectually stimulated!
